Upper Face

Wrinkles Of The Forehead

Forehead wrinkles are the long wrinkles running from right to left across the forehead. Some people have just a few in the middle of the forehead but others who have a wide forehead muscle find that their winkles extend all the way to the edges of their forehead. These are treated effectively with Botox. Deeper lines that have been therefore years and don’t disappear when the face is resting may need dermal filler.

Wrinkles Between The Eyes: ‘Frown Lines’

Frown lines between your eyebrows are often called the ‘elevens for their appearance of looking like the number eleven. Some people have just one, others two and some have three! These are treated effectively with Botox. Deeper lines that have been therefore years and don’t disappear when the face is resting may need dermal filler.

Wrinkles Around The Eyes: ‘Crows Feet’

Crow’s feet are lines radiating out from the corner of your eye that appears when you smile. Some people have just one, others have two, three or more. They are most deep and numerous at the area of the eye muscle that is most strong. These can be treated effectively with Botox. Lower doses allow the muscles to still have some movement giving a more genuine smile.

Wrinkles At The Bridge Of The Nose: ‘Bunny Lines’

Wrinkles over the bridge of the nose are called bunny lines. Some people don’t have them as they don’t use these muscles when they smile. They are treated effectively with Botox to the muscles in this area. Some people find that these lines become more noticeable when the lines around your eyes are treated and can be a ‘give-away’ sign that someone may have had botox. That is because these muscles may work harder when you smile when the other muscles in this area are not able to contract fully due to Botox.

Cheek Volume

Loss of volume at your cheeks can give a hollowed looked to the face and bony looking cheeky bones. This is due to loss of fat at the cheeks as we age. This area is treated effectively with dermal filler and gives a transformative effect. This is one of the first areas that we tend to lose volume from in your face and therefore even from thirty upwards you may notice that the apple of your cheek is less pronounced and sagging a little. Dermal filler can give you the plump youthful cheeks again. Young women may also want to enhance their cheekbones in order to achieve the high cheeked supermodel look.

Loss Of Volume At The Temples

Volume loss at the temple area is a really ageing sign that my patients often do not immediately notice. It is a giveaway if you are trying to guess someone’s age. This rea is treated well with dermal filler and gives a significantly youthful effect on the overall face. Dermal filler plumps this area meaning that any shadowing from loss of volume is removed and instead of reflecting light from this area which makes you look younger.

Tired Looking Under Eyes: ‘Tear Trough’

Hollowness under the eyes can make you appear tired and sad. This complaint is common not only in those in their twenties/thirties which is usually due to their genetics but also in an older patient where it is due to volume loss. It can also be one of the first areas that we start to show our age. Treated this area with dermal filler removes the hollowness, giving a transformative effect making you look healthier and no longer tired. As the skin here is very thin a very smooth filler is needing with a number of treatments topping up the area over a number of weeks to give best results.

Sagging Brow: ‘Brow Lift’

You may suffer with sagging eyebrows especially at their tail end with closed tired-looking eyes. This is due to a number of different factors: loss of volume around the eye, overactive eyes muscles closing the eye and pulling the brow down. With a combination of Botox and fillers a ‘chemical brow lift’ can be achieved. This helps lift the brow and open the eye. Making the patient look less tired, refreshed and more youthful.

Lower Face

Lines From The Nose To Mouth Corner: ‘Nasolabial Folds’

Lines from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth are called nasolabial lines or folds. These are due to loss of volume and support at the cheeks which allows the cheek to sag downward and create a heaviness or fold where the cheek approaches the nose. Therefore the best way to treat this line/fold is to restore the volume at the cheeks which helps lift the cheek back up to where it should be. Sometimes after this treatment the fold itself still needs treatment and so filler at this area can then be placed in small amounts to create a smooth transition from the cheek to around the mouth.

Lines From Mouth Corner To Jaw: ‘Marionnete Lines’

Lines from the corner of your mouth to your jawline are called marionette lines. These are due to loss of volume at a number of areas: the cheek, around the mouth and at the jaw, thus causing the face to sag forward and create these folds. Marionnette lines are best treated with restoring volume at the cheeks, around the mouth and jaw. Once this increased support to the skin has been placed, the remaining line cane is treated directed with filler to this area.

Lines At The Cheeks On Smiling: ‘Smile Lines’

Smile lines- lines that appear at the corners of your mouth and cheek as you smile.
These are due to loss of volume at the cheeks causing the face to sag and loss of support in the skin thus allowing wrinkling and folding of the skin on muscles contraction. These are best treated with restoring volume at the upper cheeks, in general, to lift the area as well as directly under the smile lines to provide extra support to the skin.

Jowls

As we age we naturally start to lose plumpness in the face. This means that the cheeks lose support and volume allowing the cheek to sag downward. When this occurs at the jawline- we develop a jowl. A jowl is any loose sagging skin that disrupts the smooth line of the jaw. Jowls can develop in varying degrees- initially, it may just appear that the jawline is not as smooth and straight as it used to be but later there may be an obvious bulge along the jawline of excess skin/fat. This area is treated with dermal filler either side of the jowl which supports the skin and lifts this area up (imagine tightening a hammock).

Jawline

A beautiful well defined, the smooth tight jawline is often what patients desire. A pronounced jawline makes the face appear thinner and makes the face stand out from the neck creating an aesthetically appealing look. Due to weight gain, weight loss or genetics you may have lost your jawline or may not have had a clear jawline, to begin with. A strong filler along the jawline lifts the skin creating a natural shadow under this area and giving clear lines along the jaw distinguish it from your neck. This treatment also helps to support sagging tissue under the chin and at the cheek near the ear.

Appearance Of Cords Of The Neck: ‘Neck Bands/Platysmal Bands’

The appearance of cords at your neck often called neck bands or platysmal bands as they are due to the action of the muscle called the Platysma at the neck. These appear due to loss of volume at the neck and hyperactive neck muscles. They are treated with Botox to decrease the action of the outer neck muscles that create this cord-like appearance.

Lips & Around

Lip Volumization

Some people are born with naturally thin lips. These can be enhanced with dermal filler to create a subtle fuller lip. The end result depends on what you prefer. Some like a small subtle enhancement that only they will notice while others want a much fuller plumped lip. As we age, we also lose volume around the lips meaning that they look thinner and start to curl inwards. Dr Pavey is aware that older patients often want a natural subtle looking result resulting in lips looking the way they were in their thirties. Dr Pavey understands that lips are such a defining feature of an individual and will talk you through exactly how you want your lips to look so as to achieve the result you desire.

Wrinkle’s around your mouth- also called smokers lines though can occur without smoking.
These happen for a number of reasons. The biggest factors tend to be repetitive movements causing you to purse the lips and loss of connective tissue around the lips which would normal provide supportively and stop the lines appearing. Sad Looking Mouth With Down-Turned Corners

Sad looking mouth with downturned corners. Unfortunately, as we age, the corners of our mouth can sag causing us to look unhappy. These are due to a number of reasons. The muscles which pull the corners of the lips may be too strong and pull the corners down. Loss of volume around the lip also means there is a lack of support.
